Swept Under the Carpet? Servants in London households, 1600-2000 ran until Sunday 4 September 2016. The exhibition explored domestic service and the experiences of servants living and working in middle-class homes over the last four hundred years, giving a glimpse into a world often overlooked by historians. Swept Under the Carpet? was guest curated by Tessa Chynoweth and Laura Humphreys, AHRC-funded Collaborative Doctoral Award researchers from the Centre of Studies of Home - a partnership between the Geffrye and Queen Mary, University of London.

Geffrye on the Move

One of the Geffrye's most popular paintings, 'View of an interior with a couple watching the arrival of the Jarrow Marchers in London through a window' by Thomas Cantrell Dugdale, 1936, has travelled up to the South Shields Museum & Art Gallery for an exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the march, The Jarrow Crusade: Marching into History. The exhibition runs until 26 February 2017.
